ReLive

a collaborative gestural interface and non-linear broadcast model for the web (2009)

We built this interface in Bill Mitchell and Federico Casalegno's class "Design Beyond Boundaries." In collaboration with RAI TV in Italy we designed an interface that would allow traditional broadcast professionals to use their depth of skill in a new medium: the web. Going against the pop idea of ubiquitous crowdsourced media we were interested in ways offer professionally produced, high production value content online with the same speed and authenticity.

In ReLive our goal was to merge the pattern recognition systems in human beings with the best pattern recognition algorithms. So far we have built the first half, a collaborative, gestural interface for developing web content in realtime. Our vision is of future broadcasting rooms where producers are structuring their companies websites on the fly -- a control room where every conceivable media feed is analyzed and sorted programmatically for review in a large, 3D graphical space by a team of users collaborating using a gestural interface.
